Day 7 Week 2: What Am I Eating?

In this picture I'm eating a little piece of kumara . There are several varieties of kumara such as red kumara, purple kumara and orange kumara. Kumara is actually the Māori way of saying sweet potato. Kumara is a healthy vegetable anyone can eat!... Unless if you're allergic.

  1. Hey Jessica,

I'm a year 7 student from S.P.X school and my name is Von. What a great selfie! I was wondering what do you like eating with the Kumara?

Fantastic work and remember to blog!
    Cheers, Von

    1. Hi Von,

I like eating roast chicken with my kumara, what about you?

    2. Oh thanks for the reply Jessica, I like eating Kumara with Tuna :)

  2. Hi Jessica,

What a great picture! I love to prepare kumara of all kinds for my family. We often eat it as part of our meals because none of us are allergic. It would be quite sad if we were allergic to kumara and unable to eat it.

Speaking of allergies, I am actually very fortunate because I am not allergic to any foods. Are you allergic to anything? My mother, sister and brother-in-law (Andrew) are all quite sensitive to lactose and gluten. They have to drink special (almond) milk instead of regular cow's milk and they have to avoid anything with gluten in it. This means that they can't eat breads, cereals, or many of the dessert treats (eg. cakes, pastries) that we enjoy because they are made with gluten. I feel so badly for them :(

I try to send them special treats that they can eat as often as possible or bake them foods using gluten-free flour.

All of this talk about food is actually making me hungry. I think that I better slip away and have some lunch. I might make myself some baked kumara today!

Keep up the great work with your blogging :)

  3. Hi Jessica
I love kumura, I would choose kumura over potatoes any dray especially with melted butter an feta cheese. What do you eat it with?

    1. Hi Harrison,
I like to eat Kumura with roast chicken.

    2. Hi Harrison and Jessica,

Yum! I have never thought of eating kumara with feta cheese before. That sounds really good! I will have to try it tonight as we're having chicken and roast vegetables for dinner. It is one of my favourite meals!

Thanks for the great ideas, guys!
