So What Are You In For?

So What Are You In For?

Last week on Friday the 12th of August I went to the zoo with some year 3, 4, 5 and 6’s. Rooms 5, 6 and 7 went and saw animals from Africa.
We were split up into groups of 5 or less. I was split up with my classmates Riiana, Leanah, , Malia, Guinevere and Jozlo.

We saw mini otters swimming and talking to each other by sign language and by staring at each other. We walked around the zoo and ended up at the fearsome tigers. There were two exhibits for the two tigers. One tiger was hiding under a tree while, the other one was in the bushes on a white blanket. We roamed free until we came to a new exhibit with an Emu picking at the landscape. My group arrived at the Brolga birds. The Brolga have long stretched necks the colour of grey.

We appeared near the tortoises next to the ear-splitting macaws next to the spider monkeys. There were 3 enormous tortoises crawling very slow. Leanah took some photos using room 9’s tablet. Riiana and I walked over to the macaws, covering our ears. The macaws had blue, yellow, black, green and white feathers. We ate morning tea near the spider monkeys near the macaws, one of the spider monkeys were really naughty.

Three groups were near us and ate morning tea near us. Once everyone in my group finished eating we started to walk to the tarantula exhibit where we saw one deadly spider. Before the clock turned to 11:30 we started walking back to entrance so three zoo workers could take us to the African animals, to learn about them. A lovely lady called Kristy took Room 9, my old class to the hippo exhibit, to look at faith the hippo who has sadly died. We learnt a lot about hippo’s. Kristy took as to the baboons with very red bottoms. Everyone couldn’t keep focus because everyone saw the cheetah exhibit. Once Kristy finished talking some people asked if we could look at the quick cheetahs’, Kristy said of course. Most of the boys and some girls ran over to look, everyone was excited. There were 3 cheetahs but we only saw 1 cheetah behind a little hill.

We all said thank you to Kristy, then left in our groups but still a bit close to each other. We settled next to the lion exhibit to eat our lunch. When we were eating a cheeky chicken came around us. It was really hilarious because the teachers were trying to get rid of the chicken but, the chicken came back again and again.

Once we finished eating we started heading back to the bus.( We saw so many meerkats) When we all got together we said thank you to the zoo workers, then left. My favourite animal was the macaws because their colourful birds and who doesn’t like a colourful bird?

A Wild Adventure

A Wild Adventure

On Monday the 15th of August five people from room 9 moved to room 10, I was one of them. Riiana, Leanah, Jozlo, Leaaepeni (A.K.A Peni) and I all moved. Our teacher Miss Misela was super sad but we were excited.
It is strange because we're going to be in a different class for the rest of the year! My new teacher is Mrs Buchanan, she is very nice and kind like Miss Misela. It's really exciting because we might be able to buy our own Chromebooks. I felt really weird in class on Monday because there's only five year five's and six-teen year six's in room 10.

I really miss Miss Mielsa, sitting in room 9 and looking at all of room 9's art.

Information Report

We were learning how to write an information report about our family.
This little paragraph is about my families personality. This is my favourite paragraph because it describes my personality as well as my families personality.

My family is special because they’re funny and LOUD! My Dad can make anyone laugh at any time, sometimes I make him laugh when he’s trying to make me laugh. Most of my family members are pretty loud and crazy but that’s why I love them.

Homework Or No Homework That Is The Question

Homework Or No Homework That Is The Question

I think kids need to have homework to take home.

Firstly, kids need more homework to do more learning and get better at writing neatly. Taking homework home is a great opportunity to be better than before.
Secondly, if kids take homework home it can help their teachers if, they didn’t have enough time in class to teach them new things like, how the world works or how to multiply and much others.
Thirdly, homework is important because sometimes your teacher might need to have break maybe once or twice.
Finally, if kids don’t have homework they use most of their spare time on devices and could get sore eyes.

We wrote some persuasive writing to persuade people if kids should take homework. Half of my class went for homework and the rest went for no homework.

My Summer Site

We wrote a six word poem to describe summer and what we might see.
In summer I usually see ice-cream melting, the scorching sun in the sky, beautiful waterfalls and fans on for cold air.

Who Came First?

Who Came First?

In case you didn't know what the Winter Learning Journey was then I'll tell you. The Winter Learning Journey was a blogging competition for rooms 9-12 in my school, Ruapotaka Primary. On Monday the 1st of August a special guest came to our school called Rachel Williamson. Rachel Williamson created the Winter Learning Journey. She held all the scores and checked  our blogs if we participated. There were at least 11 competitors in my school. There were only 2 participates in my class, room 9. Only 8 people from my school got a certificate for participating.
We were waiting to hear who came 3rd, 2nd and 1st. The person who came 3rd wasn't at school but the other 2 were. In 2nd place was Prudence and in 1st place was... ME! Here is a picture of all of us together with Rachel Williamson.

Here is another picture with me and my best friend Riiana, who participated.
